Purpose of the course:

A systems onboarding course designed to support the company-wide introduction of Workday — helping employees across all levels and functions understand the platform, navigate its core features confidently, and complete essential tasks from day one. Addresses the common anxiety around new enterprise systems by focusing on practical, role-relevant workflows rather than exhaustive feature coverage — giving staff what they need to do their job in Workday, not a technical manual.

My approach:

Developed entirely in Rise 360, chosen for its clean, intuitive reading experience and ability to mirror the straightforward, modern feel of the Workday interface itself — reducing the visual and cognitive distance between the training and the system learners would encounter. Content structured around the most common employee journeys within Workday provided by Workday subject matter experts — covering tasks such as submitting time off, updating personal details, completing performance reviews, and accessing payslips — so learners could immediately see the relevance to their own working day without needing to understand the broader system architecture. Each section includes screenshots of a live system so that when the learners access their own systems, it looks familiar.

Measuring success:

Effectiveness tracked through a combination of task completion confidence ratings collected before and after the course — asking staff to rate their ability to perform each core Workday task on a simple five-point scale — alongside system usage data provided by the IT team, monitoring adoption rates and the volume of helpdesk tickets raised for Workday-related queries in the weeks following launch. A significant reduction in helpdesk ticket volume was identified as the primary success indicator in agreement with the IT and HR project teams, providing a concrete operational measure of whether the training had successfully reduced friction in the system rollout.
